donald trump just got revenge on john mccainin the best way possible john mccain stabbed donald trump in the backwith his vote to kill any chances to repeal obamacare. since that betrayal, trump has repeatedlytaken shots at mccain. now in a surprise move, trump got revengeon mccain in the best way possible. in 2012, the supreme court upheld obamacarechief justice john roberts claim that the law’s individual mandate passed muster becauseit was a tax and not a penalty. roberts invented this ruling out of thin air. obama himself had repeatedly stated the mandatewas a penalty.
roberts caved to pressure exerted by the mediaand obama and provided the decisive vote in a 5-4 decision in upholding obamacare. but jeff sessions just struck back and mayhave delivered the final nail in obamacare’s coffin. the 2017 gop tax cut bill repealed obamacare’sindividual mandate. 19 states have filed a lawsuit claiming theobamacare mandate was unconstitutional. and sessions directed the justice departmentto no longer defend the law in court. the justice department is arguing that theregulations under obamacare – which mandate what type of health insurance you must haveand the benefits the insurance plans must
provide – are part of an unconstitutionalscheme. the legal argument is that since the mandatewas repealed as part of the tax law, it no longer serves a revenue purpose. since the mandate is no longer a tax, theregulations tied to the mandate are unconstitutional. the trump administration has done everythingin its power to gut obamacare. in addition to repealing the mandate, trumpsigned executive orders allowing cheaper health plans to be sold across state lines. now the administration is refusing to defendobamacare in court. and while the left may howl, the obama administrationset this precedent.
the obama justice department refused to defendthe defense of marriage act in court to placate the radical homosexual voting bloc of thedemocrat party base. when mccain delivered his famous “thumbsdown†vote last summer, pundits predicted obamacare was here to stay. but trump never gave up on ridding americaof the obamacare disaster. trump pressed ahead and signed the tax cutbill into law that repealed the individual mandate. the president would also state at every rallythat there were executive actions he could take to eradicate obamacare.
sessions surprise announcement that the administrationwould no longer defend the law made good on trump’s promise. and mccain’s vote may have even given trumpa cleaner shot to kill obamacare once and for all by bypassing congress – where republicanslike mccain clearly lied about their promises to repeal obamacare – and instead use thelegal tools at the administration’s disposal to wipe obamacare off the books. the legislation trump supported – that mccainvoted against – gutted, but did not eliminate, the obamacare regulations. that’s why it was labeled a “skinnyâ€repeal.
but this court case could wipe it off thebooks entirely. we will keep you up to date on any new developmentsin this story. facebook has greatly reduced the distributionof our stories in our readers' newsfeeds and is instead promoting mainstream media sources. when you share to your friends, however, yougreatly help distribute our content. please take a moment and consider sharingthis article with your friends and family. thank you.
