over in sapporo, japan, the 2017 asian wintergames have wrapped up with a strong finish for korea. south korean athletes won a combined 16 goldmedals, surpassing their goal of 15... bringing the nation to a second-place finish. most of those medals came in speed-skatingand short-track, categories that korea continues to dominate. saturday was a cinderella story for figureskater choi da-bin. the 17-year-old seems ready to fill the skatesof korea's iconic kim yu-na, after winning the nation's first asian games gold in thatdiscipline.
out of the 32 participating nations, hometeam japan finished on top with 23 golds and 67 medals in total. china placed third, while north korea tookfifth. most importantly for team south korea, theouting showed they're in good shape for next year's winter olympics on home soil.
