this rugged ridge hood bra in black is forthose who have a 2007 and up jk and are looking to protect that leading edge of your hood,as well as changing up the look of your jeep a little bit. now there are really two schools of thoughtwhen it comes to an item like this. one is that by having this installed on yourhood, you're protecting that leading edge against stone throws and damage from otherdebris. and the other is that this is going to trapdirt underneath of it, is gonna move around and flap in the wind, and it's going to chafeyour paint and maybe even cause more damage than if you didn't have this installed.
so it really comes down to what you thinkabout an item like this. if you think this is gonna add some protection, this is going to be a really nice option for you, it's very well built, and it's goingto be less expensive than some of the other options out there for protecting that leadinghood edge. this hood bra's gonna be made out of a heavy-dutycrush grain vinyl, and it's going to have all your straps and buckles, loops and hooksbuilt right into it to make getting it installed very easy. maybe most importantly this has a very softinside layer to eliminate any of that chafing as much as possible.
of course, if you do get dirt underneath this, you may still have an issue with scratching, but rugged ridge did everything they can ontheir side of things to eliminate any damage from the bra on your factory paint. i really like the fact that this does comewith all of the buckles, all of the loops, all of the hooks installed right on it. it makes installing this very, very simple. you don't even need any tools. so as far as the installation goes, it's gonnabe a very simple one out of three wrenches. it'll probably take you around 15 minutes, maybe even a little bit less to get this installed.
the first step is going to be installing thelarge center strap on the [inaudible 00:01:38] loop of your hood, but leave it very, veryloose. that's going to enable you to stretch theother end of the hood bra around the corners of the hood and attach all of the hooks ontothe holes on the inside of the hood so that you can then tighten everything down. once you have the front where you like it,sitting right, then you can tighten up the center loop and you're finished with the install. this hood bra is gonna run your radar on a$35, and when you compare that to repairing stone throw damage on your hood, it's goingto be significantly less expensive than that.
this is also going to be less expensive thansome of the hard plastic 3m adhesive pieces that you can stick on that leading edge ofthe hood to protect it. so, if you like this style, this is goingto be an inexpensive option that's definitely going to get the job done. if you want a hard plastic option and youhave a higher budget, some of those other options are available as well. so if you're looking for the protection andthe styling of a hood bra, i highly recommend taking a look at this one from rugged ridgethat you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
